Check your typing speed in one minute: WPM and accuracy, in English, Spanish or any other of the 16 languages.
The test lasts one minute. You type real quotes from books, films and well-known people, with capital letters and punctuation, the way people actually write. Only correctly typed characters count toward your speed.
Each of the 16 languages has its own collection of real quotes, and the test works with any keyboard layout.
The average typing speed is about 40 WPM, and fast starts at 50. Aim for 95% accuracy or higher.
| Speed, wpm | Level |
|---|---|
| < 30 | BeginnerAbout as fast as writing by hand |
| 30–50 | AverageFine for chats and email, long texts are tiring |
| 50–80 | FastFingers keep up with your thoughts |
| 80+ | ProAI chatbots can't keep up with you |

Create a leaderboard and send the link. Everyone takes the test whenever it suits them, and the results are collected in one table. Turn on notifications and you'll know when someone overtakes you.
Settle your hands in a comfortable position and get used to pressing each key with the same finger every time. Soon you stop looking at the keyboard, and later you stop thinking about the keys at all. This is called touch typing, and you can learn it with Typing School in a month at 15 minutes a day.

About 40 WPM, or 200 characters per minute. People who touch type usually reach 60 to 80 WPM.
Yes, 60 WPM is well above average and enough for almost any office job. Jobs built around typing, like transcription, usually ask for 70 to 80 WPM.
WPM stands for words per minute. Words differ in length, so one word is counted as five characters, spaces included: 200 correct characters in a minute is 40 WPM. CPM, characters per minute, is the same speed without the division. Accuracy is the share of correct key presses: every typo lowers it, even a corrected one.
Because that is how real typing works: a typo in an email or a document has to be fixed anyway. The test does not let you go on until the mistake is corrected, so the time you spend fixing it counts too, and your speed comes out honest: as it would with real text.
Yes. Create a leaderboard and share the link. Everyone who opens it takes the test on their own, and the results appear in one leaderboard. No account is needed to join. With notifications on, you'll know when a friend overtakes you. It works for a class or a team too: one leaderboard holds up to 20 people.
